A few months ago while I was browsing through a collection of titles at the Drama Bookshop in Manhattan (www.dramabookshop.com,) I picked up The Best Ten-Minute Plays (2 Actors) 2006 by Smith and Kraus and looked through the plays they chose.
You can’t imagine my surprise when I saw that my play Double D was included in the collection. When I made this discovery, I think I said something like, “Holy Shit!” and caused the whole shop to stare. The play had won the “Audience Choice Award” at the 2006 Turnip Short Play Festival in New York. (A spectacular production directed by the lovely and talented Lynda Sturner.) I guess there was some language in the fine print of the contest application that indicated that the play could be chosen for publication.
I was very surprised. And also very pleased. If you want to buy the book, try this link: http://www.smithandkraus.com/htdocs/store.php?n=10. If you want to download the play, access it here: Double D.
